Teo Heng KTV outlets — which one to book

Teo Heng charges for the room, not per person. What each room costs, and which of its Singapore outlets to book for a big group, two people or a late flight.

Here’s a guide to Teo Heng’s karaoke outlets in Singapore: what a room costs, which outlet to book for a big group or just two of you, and which ones are worth a detour.

Teo Heng is one of the cheapest ways to do karaoke because you hire the room by the hour, so the price is the same whether three people come or ten. You can bring your own food and drink in, and there is no bar and no minimum spend.

What a room costs

Prices are the same at every outlet and include GST. Happy hours run from noon to 7pm, and it costs more after that.

RoomSeatsNoon-7pmAfter 7pm
Mini K2$8$12
Small4$13$19
Medium6$15$22
Large10$17$25
Extra Large15$19$27
VIP20$32$40

Small, medium and large rooms are on offer until 31 October — $8, $11 and $14 an hour during happy hours. Ten people in a large room before 7pm comes to about $1.40 each per hour.

For a big group

Three outlets have rooms the others don’t. Jurong Point has the chain’s only VIP room, which seats twenty, so a birthday or work group doesn’t have to split across two rooms. Canberra Plaza has the only fifteen-seat room. Punggol Coast Mall, the newest outlet, has an eight-seat Medium Plus room, for groups too big for a six and too small for a ten.

All three need a phone booking, and the VIP room needs one well in advance.

For two people

Plantation Plaza in Tengah is the only outlet with a Mini K, a room for two at $8 an hour before 7pm. It has the newest rooms in the chain and an up-to-date song list. Tengah has no MRT station yet, so you’ll need a bus until the Jurong Region Line opens, and the outlet sells drinks but not food, so bring something to eat if you’re staying a while.

Worth a detour

Changi Airport Terminal 3 is two floors below the departure hall, on the public side, so you don’t need a boarding pass to go in. It only has four- and six-seat rooms, but it is very handy if you have a late or delayed flight.

Kallang Wave Mall is a few minutes from the National Stadium, so it suits a group after a match or a concert. It also has a WhatsApp number you can message to request a song that isn’t in the system.

Bukit Timah CC is praised for its sound and its long-serving staff. There is no lift to the third floor, so check before bringing anyone who finds stairs difficult.

The Hougang outlet, inside the community club, uses a different name: Heng Out Place by Teo Heng. The rooms and prices are the same, but look for that sign.

The other outlets

The rest have the same rooms at the same prices, so pick the one easiest to get to. In town: Suntec City, the busiest in the chain, and The Centrepoint, the cheapest karaoke on Orchard Road. West-central: The Star Vista at Buona Vista. North: Causeway Point above Woodlands station. North-east: Oasis Terraces next to Oasis LRT. East: White Sands above Pasir Ris station, where the system plays YouTube, so there are far more songs to choose from.

Six things worth knowing

  1. Book by phone. Teo Heng takes no online bookings, and a weekend evening needs one.
  2. Bring your own food. Outside food and drink are allowed, except alcohol.
  3. Happy hours end at 7pm. The evening rate is nearly double, so an afternoon session saves the most.
  4. Book a bigger room if you’re unsure. The seat numbers are the maximum, so six people in a six-seat room will be squeezed.
  5. The rooms are plain — clean, with good microphones, but no decoration.
  6. The very newest songs may be missing. There are plenty of English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Korean songs, but new releases take a while to be added.
