Teo Heng KTV (Oasis Terraces)

Teo Heng at Oasis Terraces is on level 2 of the neighbourhood centre on Punggol Drive, beside Oasis LRT station.

Rooms run from four seats to ten, charged by the hour rather than per head: $13 an hour for a small room before 7pm, $19 after, up to $17 and $25 for the ten-seater, GST included. You can bring your own food and drink, which is much of the appeal — there is no bar, no alcohol and no minimum spend, so a family can sit for three hours for the price of one round somewhere else. Open to 1am, and 2am on Saturdays and holiday eves.

It is squarely a local room: clean, straightforward, and convenient if you live in Punggol rather than somewhere to travel to. The one thing to be ready for is the booking. Service on the phone draws repeated complaints — several people describe being handled curtly when trying to reserve — so it may be easier to turn up in person, particularly on a weekday afternoon when it is quiet.
