Teo Heng KTV (Centrepoint)

Teo Heng KTV at Centrepoint is on level 5 of the mall on Orchard Road, and it is the cheapest way to sing on that stretch by a wide margin.

Rooms are charged by the hour by size rather than per person — four, six or ten seats, starting around $13 an hour before 7pm. Food and drink come in with you, minus alcohol, and that arrangement is much of what keeps the price where it is. The song list is broad across English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Korean, with the caveat that very recent releases can be missing. There are board games now too.

It suits students, families and anyone wanting a couple of hours of singing on Orchard without the per-head pricing of the KTV lounges nearby. The rooms are functional — clean, plain, properly mic’d — and that trade is the entire proposition. Phone ahead at weekends, because the Orchard branches fill first.
