Privacy Policy

Effective 3 August 2026.

arcades.SG is operated by Sibyl Entertainment Pte Ltd, a company registered in Singapore. This policy explains what personal data the site collects, why, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written to meet our obligations under Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (the PDPA).

What we collect

When you contact us

The enquiry form on this site — used to claim a listing, ask about featured placement, report a mistake, or get in touch generally — collects:

  • your email address (required, so we can reply)
  • your name, and your phone number, if you choose to give them
  • your message, and which venue it concerns

These are stored in this site’s own database and read by us through the site’s administration screens. They are not published anywhere on the site.

Automatically, when you visit

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs — your IP address, browser type, which pages were requested and when. These are used to keep the site running and to investigate abuse or faults.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site, which pages they read, and roughly where they arrived from. This is how we decide what to add and what to fix. It records things like the pages you view, the time and date, the site or search that sent you, your approximate location by city, and your device and browser type.

We do not use it to identify you, and we never combine it with the details you give us in an enquiry. Google Analytics does not store your IP address: it uses it to estimate which city you are in and then discards it. Visit-level records are kept for a limited period set in our account, currently no more than 14 months, after which only totals remain.

Google processes this information on its own systems, which are outside Singapore and include the United States, under Google’s terms and privacy policy rather than ours.

If you would rather not be counted: most browsers can block these cookies in their privacy settings, and Google publishes an opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout that stops Google Analytics on every site you visit, not just this one. Nothing on arcades.SG stops working if you do.

We also use Google Search Console. That one reports which Google searches showed our pages and how often they were clicked, drawn from Google’s own records of its search results. It collects nothing from your visit and sets no cookies.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser so that repeat visits within a session are counted as one person rather than several. Beyond those, the underlying WordPress software sets cookies only for signed-in site administrators. We do not use advertising cookies, we do not run advertising networks that follow you between sites, and we do not sell or share what analytics tells us.

Others who receive data because you visited

Some parts of the site are served by other companies. When your browser loads them, it necessarily tells them your IP address. We have listed them so this is not a surprise:

  • GoDaddy — hosts the site and serves it through their content delivery network.
  • Google Analytics — counts visits and page views, as described above.
  • OpenStreetMap — the map images on our map pages are requested from OpenStreetMap.
  • data.gov.sg — our home page reads Singapore’s public rainfall readings, published by the National Environment Agency, so it can lead with places you can reach without getting wet when it is pouring. Your browser requests them directly from the government’s open data service. Nothing about you is sent, and we ask for no location from your device.
  • Open-Meteo — our home page and our Escape the Haze page read current air-quality readings for Singapore, and for the cities that page lists, from Open-Meteo, a free weather and air-quality service. Your browser requests them directly. Nothing about you is sent, and we ask for no location from your device.

Each of these handles that information under its own privacy policy, not ours.

We may in future include affiliate booking links, which would earn us a commission if you book after following one. Following such a link takes you to that company’s website, where their privacy policy applies rather than this one. Any such links will be identifiable as what they are.

Why we use it

  • to reply to your enquiry
  • to check that someone claiming a venue listing is entitled to do so
  • to correct and improve the accuracy of listings
  • to understand, in totals rather than individually, which pages are useful and which searches bring people here, so we know what to write next
  • to prevent spam and misuse of the site

We do not use your details for marketing unless you have asked us to, and we do not sell personal data to anyone.

Consent, and withdrawing it

By sending us an enquiry you consent to us using your details for the purposes above. You can withdraw that consent at any time by writing to the contact address below. We will stop using your data for those purposes within a reasonable period, though we may need to keep a limited record where the law requires it.

Analytics is separate, because it starts before you have told us anything. This notice is how we tell you it happens, and the browser settings and opt-out described above are how you decline it. Declining changes nothing else about the site.

Disclosure

We do not sell, rent or trade personal data. We disclose it only to the service providers described above, to the extent they need it to run the site, or where we are required to by law or by a competent authority.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry records while your enquiry is open and for up to 24 months afterwards, so we have context if you contact us again. After that they are deleted. You can ask us to delete yours sooner. Server logs are kept for the shorter period our host retains them. Google Analytics records are kept for no more than 14 months, after which only aggregate totals remain.

Your rights

Under the PDPA you may ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you and information about how it has been used, and you may ask us to correct anything that is wrong. Write to the contact address below. We will respond as soon as we reasonably can, and in any event within the timeframes set by the PDPA. There is no charge for a straightforward request.

Venue listings

Our listings describe businesses, and business contact details are not usually personal data. If you operate as an individual and a listing carries information you consider personal — a personal mobile number, for example — write to us and we will amend or remove it.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection, administrative access is restricted, and enquiry records are not exposed publicly. No website can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable steps proportionate to the small amount of data we hold.

Children

The venues we list are often family destinations, but this site is written for adults planning an outing, and the enquiry form is intended for venue operators and adult enquirers. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us their details, tell us and we will delete them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles personal data, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top.
