Teo Heng at Bukit Timah Community Club is on the third floor of the CC on Toh Yi Drive, and it is a community club room rather than a mall one — quieter, more local, and run by staff the regulars know by name.

Rooms are charged by the hour by size rather than per head, on the chain’s standard rates. A promotion running to 31 October puts a four-seat room at $8 an hour before 7pm, a six-seater at $11 and a ten-seater at $14, rising to $14, $17 and $20 after 7pm; GST included, bring your own food, no alcohol. The sound system draws real praise — better than the price suggests — and the song catalogue is kept current. Open to 1am, and 2am on Saturdays and holiday eves.

Two things to know before going. There is no lift to the third floor, which rules it out for anyone who cannot manage stairs and is worth checking if you are bringing older relatives. And the rooms are genuinely tight: two people in a small room will be sitting close, so size up if you have the choice. Weekday afternoons are the quiet stretch.
