Planet Bowl is the compact alley at the Civil Service Club on Tessensohn Road, a few minutes from Farrer Park, and one of the cheapest games in the city.
Weekday mornings are the bargain — around two dollars a game — with late-night and post-midnight rates almost as low. It is a small centre rather than a big one, charging by the game or by the hour, and it is plain: no cosmic lighting, no bar, no arcade to speak of. What it has is lanes at a price nothing central can match.
It suits students, regular bowlers and anyone who wants a few games without the outing costing what a meal would. The same building holds Ground Up Climbing, so the club is worth knowing about generally. For families wanting bumpers, ramps and a bit of spectacle, Orchid Bowl or Sonic Bowl are better suited.
