Orchid Bowl at Orchid Country Club in Yishun has 36 lanes — among the largest alleys in Singapore — and it is the best equipped for young children.
The bumpers can be programmed to rise only on a child’s turn, so adults play a proper game on the same lane. There are four dragon ramps, plastic chutes a small child rolls the ball down so it actually reaches the pins, available first-come-first-served. Five-pound balls are stocked for little hands, and glow bowling runs in the evenings. The alley was refurbished recently and is brighter for it.
It suits families with a wide age range and large group bookings, and with 36 lanes it rarely turns anyone away — it is usually quieter than the town alleys. Orchid Country Club is a drive or a bus from Khatib rather than a walk, which is the trade for the space and the lower rates.
