The Official Sherlock Experience (Bugis)
The Official Sherlock Experience is a murder mystery you play on foot through Bugis, rather than a room you are locked in. It is the first real-world Sherlock Holmes game licensed by the Conan Doyle estate, and it was made here by the Singapore studio HIDDEN.
You start at Bugis Street and work through 16 stops across Bugis Street, Bugis+ and Bugis Junction, using your own phone with nothing to download. The case, called A Study in Red, takes A Study in Scarlet out of Victorian London and sets it in Bugis, drawing on the area’s lesser-known past as a pre-war Japanese quarter. Along the way you examine a staged crime scene — a body, a red lantern and a bloodied wall, with evidence that only shows under UV light — step into a 360-degree scene at Bugis+, take calls from characters and go through CCTV footage. Shopkeepers on the route hand over clues, and a few of them give food and drink discounts too.
It takes 90 minutes to two hours at your own pace, in teams of up to five, and it is for ages 13 and up because of the themes. There is more walking and searching than hard puzzling. All of it is under cover and most of it is air-conditioned, and every team goes home with a piece of merchandise and a Polaroid of the solved case. The last start of the day is at half past seven, and the experience only runs until 31 December 2026.
