K.STAR (Orchard Central)

K.STAR at Orchard Central lets you bring your own food in, and its largest room takes up to a hundred people, which is a company function rather than a night out. Below that sit VVIP rooms for around forty and standard themed rooms for smaller groups, with a music bar alongside the private ones.

It keeps the latest hours on Orchard Road, running to five in the morning on Fridays and Saturdays. Drinks are reasonably priced for the address and the song system is large, though the Cantonese catalogue has gaps worth checking if that is what you came to sing.

Two things to plan for. The rooms run warm: the air conditioning is controlled centrally by the mall rather than from the room, so staff genuinely cannot turn it down, and a long session with a full room gets hot. And the curtains are thin enough that afternoon sun reflects off the screens, which makes an evening booking the better one. It suits birthdays, company nights out and groups who want a room that looks like an occasion, while couples and pairs are fine in the standard rooms. It is on level 5 of Orchard Central, a short walk from Somerset station.
