Lighthouse Climbing (Pasir Panjang)

Open now Pasir Panjang $$ Mid-range
Pixel-art illustration of three climbers working routes on the overhanging bouldering walls at Lighthouse Climbing, a fourth watching from the mats below.

Lighthouse Climbing has no ropes anywhere in it. Every wall is bouldering, topping out at 4.5 metres over crash pads, so you can turn up alone and climb all evening without needing anyone to belay you.

Past the main floor is the room to head for if you are training rather than just climbing: a Kilter Board, a Tension Board, a MoonBoard and a spray wall lined up together, four adjustable boards in one place. Routes on the main floor are reset every Monday and Thursday morning, and sections of wall close while the setters work — come those evenings and you get the new problems before anyone has worked them out. The gym runs its own competition series, Spark, which fills the place when it is on.

Children climb from age four, with one adult supervising no more than two of them, and you can either watch from the side or climb alongside. Nothing needs booking: fill in the waiver online and walk in. Day passes, multi-visit passes and monthly membership are sold at the counter along with shoes and chalk, and socks are compulsory with rented shoes, so bring a pair unless you want to buy one. The gym is on Pasir Panjang Road, a couple of minutes on foot from Pasir Panjang station.
