OYEYO Boulder Home sets genuinely hard, and it is a gym of regulars rather than drop-ins — a stranger working a problem tends to get talked through it rather than left alone with it. The setting leans towards intermediate and strong climbers, and a first-timer will find a good deal of it out of reach.
It is small, and it does not try to be anything else. There are endurance routes as well as standard boulders, the whole set changes monthly so there is always something new, and the grading is its own system rather than the one you know — ask at the counter before guessing. Shoes are there to hire, there is a training area, and snacks and drinks are sold on site.
Come if you already climb and want problems that make you think, or if you want a gym where the same faces turn up every week. If you have never climbed at all, learn somewhere with a dedicated beginners’ wall first — though lessons run here for adults and children, which is the sensible way in if you would rather start here anyway. Owls Brew, a craft beer bar, is immediately next door for afterwards. The gym is in Alfa Centre on Mackenzie Road, a few minutes’ walk from Little India station.
