Teo Heng KTV (Plantation Plaza)

Teo Heng at Plantation Plaza is on level 3 of the mall in Tengah, and it is the newest room the chain has opened.

It is also the only one with a Mini K: a two-person room at $8 an hour before 7pm and $12 after, which is close to the cheapest way to sing in Singapore. Above that sit the usual four, six and ten-seaters, from $13 to $17 an hour off-peak, GST included and charged by the room rather than per head. Everything is new — the fit-out, the screens, the song catalogue, which regulars note is kept current. Open to 1am, and 2am on Saturdays and holiday eves.

Tengah has almost nothing else of this kind yet, so for a new town still filling in, this is the room. Weekday afternoons are cheap and quiet. Two practical notes: there is no food sold beyond drinks, so bring your own if you plan to stay, and Tengah has no rail connection until the Jurong Region Line opens, which makes this a bus or car trip for now.
