The Singapore Cable Car crosses the harbour in glass cabins, running from Mount Faber Peak down to HarbourFront and out over the water to Sentosa. A second line runs between three stations on the island itself — Sensoryscape, Imbiah Lookout and Siloso Point — so it doubles as a way of getting around once you are there.
Tickets are sold as round trips rather than single crossings, with the two lines priced together or separately. Standard cabins take a small group; the SkyOrb cabins have a transparent floor and cost more. Cabins can also be booked privately, including for dinner in the air. The view is the whole point of it: the harbour and the container terminal below, the southern islands out to sea, and the city skyline behind you on the way back.
It suits couples and visitors more than it suits restless small children, who tend to prefer the Sentosa Express for actually getting about. As transport it is slower than the train and considerably better looking. Boarding at Mount Faber Peak rather than HarbourFront gives you the full descent, which is the better way round. One thing to watch in the evening: last boarding is a good while before the stated closing time.
The pink button on this page prices it below the ticket office.
