Timezone Our Tampines Hub is in the basement of the community hub in Tampines, sharing a building with the library, the swimming pools and the food court rather than sitting in a shopping mall.
It is a moderate-sized floor built around games: Storm VR for motion-simulated racing, a three-player Wizard of Oz ticket game, air hockey, racing cabinets and rhythm machines, with claw machines around the edges. Redemption tickets go to the prize shop.
Most of its visitors are already at the hub for something else, and that is what it is good at — the reward at the end of a swimming lesson or a library trip. Teenagers use it as a meeting point. There is no bowling and there are no bumper cars, but the hub has enough else within a few minutes’ walk that this matters less here than it would elsewhere.
