H:Claw (The Seletar Mall)

H:Claw at The Seletar Mall is on level four, the floor the mall has given over to entertainment, with an arcade at one end and a karaoke chain beside it.

It is the part of that floor you can walk into on a whim — no booking, no minimum, just a token. The cabinets hold plush toys and character figures, and the claws are set slack, so a toy will come up off the pile and then part company with the claw a moment later. Give a machine a minute of watching before you choose it. The ones worth a token are the ones with a prize sitting proud of the heap, not the ones packed so tightly there is nothing for the claw to close around.

Come with a fixed number of goes rather than a fixed amount of money, because the second is far easier to keep topping up. And if the point of the trip is coming home with something, the arcade at the other end of this floor trades tickets for a prize you choose, which is a different proposition from hoping a claw keeps its grip.
