Game Over Gaming & Cafe

Pixel-art illustration of two people on a brown leather sofa playing a racing game on one of a row of wall-mounted screens, a Game Over sign and bright arcade murals covering the wall around them.

Game Over is a gaming cafe on the second floor of a condominium off Oxley Rise, and the hourly rate covers everything in it. The arcade cabinets, the consoles and the board games all play on the same ticket, and nothing takes coins.

Two old cabinets hold something over 11,000 games between them, Street Fighter and Tekken included, and eleven consoles run more than a hundred PS5 and Switch titles. The board games are the light, loud sort — Werewolf, Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza — and staff will sit down and teach the rules if nobody knows them. There is a jukebox. You sit in egg-shaped pods or on sofas, and the kitchen does pizza, fries, croffles and gelato, with canned beer if you want one.

Being inside a residential block, it takes some finding, and it is about ten minutes on foot from Dhoby Ghaut. Book ahead at weekends. The games themselves are first come, first played.
