PLAYON is a new digital sports park on the ground floor of E!Avenue at Downtown East, 13,000 square feet holding twenty-six experiences across five zones. A wristband buys two hours of unlimited play, taken in any order you like.

A good part of it is real rather than simulated: two proper bowling lanes with pins, a three-a-side football cage, archery with real bows and rubber-tipped arrows, a pool table, air hockey and a basketball arcade with five hoops. The simulators are where it gets unusual — six-axis racing across three wrap-around screens, a ski rig that reads how you shift your weight, a kayak you paddle, and a free-roam VR arena that takes six people on the same mission. The one people come out talking about is a two-person VR flight on motion seats.

Check the ages before you book. Children are admitted from four, but that opens only a handful of things — bowling, air hockey, the lit grid floor, the soft ball shooting. Most of the VR and the racing start at eight, and the boxing, billiards and the two-person flight at ten. Staff are hands-on and get children going rather than leaving them to work it out, which is most of why the place is so well liked. There are no slides and no ball pit: Tayo Station upstairs is the one for toddlers.
