Solace Studios (Parkway Parade)

Pixel-art illustration of the classroom set at a self-photo studio, one woman at a desk with an open book and another at the blackboard with a pointer, globe and school books alongside.

Solace Studios is a self-photo studio in the basement of Parkway Parade, a short walk from Marine Parade station.

You take the booth yourself: set the timer, shoot your own frames, and go again until you have something you like. There is no photographer and no appointment to make. Props are laid out to borrow, and there are vanity counters with hair dryers and straighteners free to use before you start — worth five minutes if you have come straight from somewhere else. Prints come out at the end of the session and the digital copies come with them, so you leave with both rather than choosing.

Bring a change of outfit if the photos matter, because the counters are there for exactly that — and give yourself a few minutes at them rather than walking straight into the booth with the day still on your face. Being at basement level puts it near the mall entrances rather than buried at the top, so you are not hunting for it once you are inside. Weekend evenings are the busy stretch, so come off-peak and you get the booth you actually wanted rather than the one that happened to be free.
