Smigy (PLQ Mall)

Smigy is an indoor playground on level 3 of PLQ Mall, built for children from about two up to twelve.

There is more packed in than the floor space suggests: a foam pit and a ball pit, trampolines, slides, swings, climbing structures and a track your child can pedal a car around, with neon-lit walls and interactive trampoline zones added in a refit. Party rooms sit off to one side and can be booked, which is what a good share of the weekend mornings goes to. Bring socks for each child — they are the standard requirement at playgrounds like this, and otherwise you will be buying a pair at the counter.

The real advantage is getting there. The mall sits directly over Paya Lebar station, so you can do the whole trip without a car — which counts for a lot when you are carrying a bag in one hand and a tired child in the other. Weekday mornings are the calmest stretch by some way; if you are coming at the weekend, aim for the moment the doors open.
