The Artground at Goodman Arts Centre is a children’s arts centre for kids up to nine, built around a play installation that changes every year. Until 31 December 2026 it is Lost Islands, based on the folktales of Singapore and Indonesia and made with the Indonesian artist Rachmi Dewi Pertama.
Children climb onto a giant turtle taken from the legend of Kusu Island, flip the pages of a two-storey book and slide off it into foam, and walk along a dragon’s back lined with different textures. There is a fishing boat and a marketplace where they pay for things with shells and coins, and a small theatre with costumes for acting out the stories. The youngest have a baby forest of their own, with tents, pool noodles and a mini foam pit.
It suits babies through to early primary school, and toddlers who can already walk get the most out of it. Entry is by timed session, and the times move around from week to week because school groups use the space on many weekday mornings, so check the booking page before you set out. Every child needs an adult with them, everyone needs grip socks, which are sold at the door, and the centre is a walk from Mountbatten MRT.
