HaveFun Karaoke (Lucky Chinatown)

Closed right now Chinatown $ Budget
Pixel-art illustration of four friends walking past the HaveFun reception counter, a red wall with neon signs behind them and the room corridor ahead.

HaveFun at Lucky Chinatown is on the fourth floor of an older mall on New Bridge Road, a short walk from Chinatown station, and it is the chain’s most weathered room.

The bones are fine: rooms are generously sized for the price, the VIP room is genuinely good, the song catalogue is kept current, and the staff at the front desk get warm mentions. What has not kept up is the fit-out. Regulars report room lighting and laser effects out of service across repeat visits, microphones past their best, echo that needs taming, and doors that do not close cleanly — which matters because the soundproofing is thin enough that you can hear next door either way.

That gives it a clear use. It suits a group that wants Chinatown rather than Orchard prices, is going to sing loudly regardless, and is not paying for atmosphere — and it is genuinely quiet on a weekday afternoon, which makes it the easy walk-in when everywhere central is booked. If the room itself is part of the evening rather than a container for it, the chain’s Cineleisure flagship is fifteen minutes up the line and the difference is obvious. Worth checking the lighting and microphones when you are shown in, while it is still easy to ask for another room.
