Studio Asobi (Hougang)

Studio Asobi is a home pottery studio in Hougang, run by two full-time potters and open by appointment only, with a maximum of six people in a session.

The main workshop runs about three hours and covers hand-building and coiling to make a cup, bowl or small planter, with a guided go on the electric wheel to finish. Snacks and drinks are included. Six people is genuinely the limit, so the teaching is close to one-to-one — the opposite of a mall studio running back-to-back groups.

It suits people who want the calm version of pottery rather than an activity to tick off, and it is the sort of place you go back to. Two studio cats live on site, which is either a feature or a warning depending on your allergies. Being a home studio it is a residential block rather than a shopfront, so book first — you cannot walk in.
