Pixels and Pieces in Chinatown is a board game and console cafe on Upper Cross Street, directly opposite Chinatown station.

It runs both halves properly rather than treating consoles as an afterthought: a board game library alongside PS5 and Nintendo Switch stations, private rooms for groups who want a door, and an automatic mahjong table that shuffles and deals for you. Rates are charged by the hour per person, with an add-on for unlimited snacks and drinks — cheap enough that a long session does not become an expensive one.

It suits friend groups, couples and anyone waiting out an afternoon in the rain, and the location makes it easy to reach from almost anywhere on the network. One thing to note: this branch closes around midnight rather than running through the night. The chain’s Serangoon Garden outlet is the one that stays open 24 hours.
