Virtualand (NEX)

Virtualand at NEX is the serious rhythm game arcade in the north-east, on level 4 of the mall above Serangoon station.

The rhythm floor is the draw and it is unusually deep: around ten maimai cabinets, plus chunithm, taiko, jubeat and SDVX, which is more machines of that kind than most arcades in Singapore carry. Racing is covered by Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune and Initial D, and the claw machines stock genuine Japanese imports rather than generic plush.

It suits rhythm players above all — if you are working on a score rather than passing twenty minutes, this is where the cabinets are. Two practical notes: token top-ups are cash only, so bring notes, and reviews are consistent that service at the counter is functional rather than warm. Go for the machines and that will not matter.
