Sonic Bowl @ SAFRA Yishun

Sonic Bowl at SAFRA Yishun is a bowling alley on the second floor of the clubhouse, and it comes with more around it than most: pool tables, a darts machine, foosball, a run of claw machines, a pro shop and a small cafe.

That makes it a floor to spend an evening on rather than somewhere to bowl two games and leave. The lanes run disco lighting after dark, there are bumpers and dinosaur ramps for children, and there is plenty of seating for anyone who came to watch rather than play. If you bowl seriously, know that the lanes run dry — the oil is kept light outside the training lanes — so leave the heavy-oil equipment at home and expect the ball to hold its line longer than you want it to. The pinsetters need attention often.

Unfortunately, this alley isn’t known for its friendly customer service. Plan around the closing time, too: the last game has to finish well before the stated close, and payment is taken earlier still, so turning up at half past nine expecting a long session will not go the way you hope. And if you are counting on the SAFRA or PAssion member rate, bring everyone’s card — each player needs their own, not just whoever is paying.
