BOUNCE takes the top floor of Cathay Cineleisure on Orchard Road, pairing a trampoline arena with X-Park, an adventure course built along Ninja Warrior lines.
The trampolines are interconnected rather than laid out as separate beds, so you travel across the room instead of bouncing in one square. The specialist zones sit around them: a dodgeball court that takes teams of up to sixteen, Slam Dunk for basketball, The Wall for wall running, and the Big Bag, where you throw yourself off a platform onto an airbag. X-Park is the harder half — rings, ledges and walls to work across — and it is what brings people back rather than the jumping. Junior Jumpers is walled off for the youngest. The staff are worth using rather than ignoring: ask, and they will coach you through a move instead of only watching the floor, and they will keep an eye on children while you sit at the tables beside the trampolines. Grip socks are compulsory at $3.20 and yours to keep.
The rate to know is the Sundown session — an hour from 6pm on weekdays for $19.90, comfortably under the standard hour, which makes this a straightforward thing to do after work rather than a weekend outing. Students get a weekday discount on production of an ID, and a second hour always costs less than the first. There is a 120kg weight limit, and some X-Park obstacles need you to be 125cm or taller, so a smaller child can get onto the trampolines and still be turned away from the course — worth checking before you promise it. If you are bringing a mixed group, this holds an adult’s attention as firmly as a ten-year-old’s, which is not true of everywhere in this category.
